Bloemfontein - The small maize farming town of Kestell in the Free State has been rocked by the news that two elderly sisters were brutally raped in their home by robbers.

The two sisters, aged 73 and 69, are popular members of the community, reported Volksblad.

One of the sisters suffers from cancer.

The robbers broke into their home during the night, proceeding to hold up the pensioners and demanding money and weapons.

When the elderly women told the men they were pensioners without money or weapons, the robbers raped them.

One of the robbers raped one of the sisters in the bedroom while the other sister was raped in the living room.

The men then fled in the sisters’ red Nissan Sentra with the number plate BHP 039 FS.

The women were in hospital and were said to be traumatised by the attack.

Coffee shop owner Babs Storm said: “We are very shocked because they are two old ladies. They are very good to others and bother nobody. It is terrible. This is the worst attack in the 15 years that I have lived here.”
