Hunt for Mpuma killers of elderly woman

2014-01-30 12:02 Johannesburg - Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt for two robbers following the murder of an elderly woman in Lydenburg, police said on Thursday.

Charlotte Kruger, 66, and her husband, 70, were watching TV at around 02:00 when two armed men broke into their home last Friday.

"They tied the elderly couple with a wire and stuffed rags in their mouths," said police spokesperson Colonel Leonard Hlathi.

He said the woman died as a result of the rag being pushed too deep.

The robbers stole a plasma TV, hi-fi system and a firearm.

Hlathi appealed to members of community to assist police in catching the robbers. He said once arrested the men would be charged with murder and house robbery.
